Problem

A Distributed Architecture for AWS and Azure Cloud Platforms

Solution

To enable seamless application deployment and management, CloudStakes integrated containerization technologies like Kubernetes, facilitating workload distribution and scalability. Moreover, CloudStakes deployed cloud-native monitoring and management tools.

About Client’s Business:

Project Information

Project Definition:

Need for building a distributed architecture of AWS and Azure cloud platforms for Cisco’s in-house team.

Pain Points/ Requirements:

Being a global brand serving in the IT sector, specializing in the network field, Cisco had to face many workload clashes due to using both AWS and Azure cloud platforms under one roof. Thus, they needed a distributed architecture for both AWS and Azure cloud platforms to keep each of their workloads isolated for better fetch and process resilience.

Solution Build Up Process:
  • At first, we maintained Azure infrastructure and its resided resources, such as Azure DevOps, Azure Infrastructure, Azure Pipelines, solely with the help of Ansible and
  • Automated and deployed Virtual Machines (VMs) through Terraform Code and ingested into the solution using Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deployed DSC (Desired State Configuration) on the DevOps using Terraform to execute the implementation of the prerequisite software within the virtual machine, which was under deployment.
  • Finally, deployed Fortinet Firewall VM and maintainer Azure Load Balancer, Azure Traffic Manager using Azure Marketplace.

Technology Stack We Used:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • PowerShell
  • Azure DevOps
  • Azure Boards
  • GitHub
  • Azure Pipelines

Challenges:

As both large cloud platforms resided under a single IT infrastructure, it was complex to separate their roots, applications, and processes without affecting other entities.

Outcomes:

With numerous difficulties, having a great team of expert DevOps engineers and the right tools in line, we were able to deliver the distributed AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure successfully to our globally-known client, Cisco.
